cancel culture – retro healing or toxic tool of the SJW

Today, it is clear to see that not only our right to freedom of movement within our own country is being restricted by a Government Lockdown Policy, because of a flu virus, which, according to many social commentators, the ‘need’ for Lockdown is contradicted by the ‘data’ released from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

However, the assault on our freedom is not enough for the government, because our right to freedom of speech has been slowly eroding away through a well organised gagging and shaming of the British people, through a constant attack on the United Kingdom’s Empirical History, however, the ‘barrage’ is not limited to history.

‘Cancel Culture,’ has now become the Assassins tool for the ‘woke’ to destroy anyone who steps outside the ‘woke’ narrative, and if you think that this is due to a small group of people who still live with their parents and have their beds made for them, then look again, because the Mainstream Media (MSM) is well on board with this.

Cancel Culture has been defined as ‘withdrawing support for (cancelling) public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive.’ Today’s many social media platforms provide the ‘Cancel Culturteers’ a way of individual and group shaming for what might only be a perceived wrongdoing.

For example, for those people who were brought up on Great British ‘Carry On’ humour, the Cancel Culture Warriors (CCW) have imagined this as a crime and are shaming organisations who either produced or broadcast these classic comedies, which feature our wonderful home-grown talent and their iconic performances.

The CCW seeks to erase our comedic history through demanding its removal from the public arena, sanitising its language and/or demanding from people, organisations and institutions apologies for historical comments or productions.

An example of this is where CCW have called for the BBC to apologise for broadcasting the comedy ‘Flawty Towers,’ I mean, Fawlty Towers, because of sketches like the one where Basil Fawlty, the hotel manager played by John Cleese, struts his stuff in ‘jackboot’ style marching fashion mimicking the German troops of the Second World War under Adolf Hitler.

You see, in the mind of the CCW this type cancelling, erasing, or apologising will make everything better, but only in their heads, of course.

Today, it seems everyone has the right to be offended, in fact, it goes well beyond that, because people can be offended because of something said or done which did not involve them either directly or indirectly; the CCW might not even have been born when a comment or joke from our comedic history was said! Yes, it surely is one to get your head around.

Red Brick does not promote speech that is designed to incite hate, damage, or cause injury. Red Brick does fully endorse speech that allows freedom of expression, having an alternative opinion, and the ability and right to be heard without being silenced or bullied, just because it inconveniences someone and does not fit into the group or government narrative.

Cancel Culture seeks to absolve what it considers to be the sins of a nation through pretending or at least in part, pretending that events never existed, for example, like removing a statue from a public place will erase its history. This ‘out of sight and out of mind approach is ‘blue sky’ thinking on steroids.

Freedom of speech includes having the right to offend, either by having a different opinion or just telling someone that you do not like them without having to explain yourself.

And if someone does not like this, that equally is their right, but it is not their right to prevent the right of opinion or deny or demand apologies for historical events on behalf of those who are not here to take responsibility for their actions or defend them without due process.

Finally, for the moment anyways, we believe that Cancel Culture is a response to increasing public disaffection, intolerance and numerous other ‘drivers’ deliberately introduced into society intended to distract us from other, more important, shenanigans going on in the world, however, this is something we will cover in another article.
