Editor: Mildred ‘Millie’ Tant, Red Brick’s Anti-Establishment Opinionator is back with another article and this time it is her views on the upcoming Budget, but before that I would like to bring to your attention a Red Brick ‘prediction’ that there will be an announcement if not in this Budget, then more likely in the next:
· Unmarked Mobile Speed Camera Technology to be placed in designated areas of known speed where there have not necessarily been any collisions.
· An overhaul of the Road Taxation System to penalise the private owners and users of diesel cars, although the Haulage Industry will remain as it is, for now at least.
· The announcement of Community Housing Complexes, which is a slow walk towards the Great Reset promised to us by the World Economic Forum, who are also a bosom-buddy of the Labour Government.
Note: This opinion or prediction is based on the fact that ULEZ is designed to drain the London motorist of their pennies, so it must be time to nail the rest of the country; hope we are wrong, but the motorist is open season for a Budget battering, notwithstanding that the motorist is going to be stung at the petrol pump, over the price of pub beer and a packet of cigarettes, although not as many people smoke now.
Right, over to Millie.
Hello, I believe the majority of us who consider ourselves to be working class, assume that the Labour Government is not going to be doing us any favours, although I hope I am wrong about this.
Nevertheless, those of us who consider ourselves to be working class, would likely agree that this consideration is more a state of mind than a matter of social status, so keep this in mind as you are reading this article.
There is so much speculation being bounced around the Mainstream Media (MSM) through their various mediums of radio, television and the fish and chip wrappers, about which group or groups of UK citizens are going to get a good seeing to in the upcoming Budget.
Recent verbalations from the Prime Minister, you know, wotz-is-name, hasn’t helped much to dispel the rumours that the ‘little people,’ us, are in the crosshairs for having our pockets picked by the Labour Government in the National Budget.
The latest speculation was reported in the Guardian newspaper on Friday 25th of October 2024 following the PM having been interviewed by reporters Eleni Courea and Grierson.
During his interview with The Guardian newspaper the PM hinted at redefining who the working people actually are, or in other words, in my opinion, he will be redefining the ‘working-class’ as part of the Budget, giving the appearance of handing the taxpayer a reward with one hand, whilst the other hand is burgling their wallets and purses.
I opine this is why the Government have been vague re who will, and who will not, be considered a ‘working person’ for the purposes of government taxation.
Even when talking about who is, and who will not be considered a working person, it is only his opinion, an opinion or thought process the Labour Party claim was mentioned in their pledgey-promisey documents pre-election.
Even so, who can recall this topic being discussed during the Labour Party’s Election Campaign, because I don’t and even if it was, Labour was always on safe ground, due to the electoral hopium of the UK’s Two-Party system of political ping-ponging between Conservatives and
Labour taking turns at Government, and this time around it was Labour’s turn.
In fact, I doubt whether the two party takey-turns system will ever be changed in my lifetime, well, not at least until there is a creditable third party formed that unites the ‘little people,’ which could happen if the few existing parties who claim to represent the people and their communities, actually organised themselves as one, allowing them to politically grow and develop. Until this happens, both Labour and Conservatives will continue their well-rehearsed pinging and ponging of each other into government.
The MSM does not want any real change, so do not expect the MSM to hold governments to account, well, not in the foreseeable future, because the MSM is owned by people who have their own political leanings and business interests to consider.
Whatever the outcome of the Labour Budget, I believe it will be a Faganistic one, a master-class of political purse-dipping and when I looked at a section of the lyrics sung by Fagan in the musical, Oliver, the following lines perfectly sum up what to expect from Labour in the forthcoming Budget:
‘In this life, one thing counts,
In the bank, large amounts,
I’m afraid that money does not grow on trees….
You’ve got to pick a pocket or two….tra la bloody la.’
Agree or disagree, who knows, but you might want to consider sewing your pockets closed, or you might feel the PM’s pinkies digit dipping in your pockets.
Here is an exert from the Guardian newspaper: Keir Starmer has hinted at tax rises for those who earn their income from shares and property, saying that they did not fit his definition of “working people.”
Oh, here we go, get ready for the top half of your body to tilt forward 90 degrees at the waist, because this sounds like a subtle nudge towards the World Economic Forum’s ‘You will own nothing and be happy,’ because if you are not considered a ‘surf’ by the State, then you are ‘open season’ for the State to bleed you dry of your money, goods and chattels, until you own nothing and have yourself become a surf.
So, it looks like the working classes who have, over time, been elevated into upper-working and upper-middle- classes, whilst those who are out of work, or should that be those who can’t find work, or to be more precise, there aren’t any jobs available for them, have, for whatever reason been lumped in with what many consider to be the lower-class bracket of the, ‘Don’t Work, Won’t Work, Will Never Work’ bunch.
These people are the unemployable consequence of the industrial destruction of the United Kingdom by successive Thatcher and Blair Governments, the same group of people the Labour Government reckon they are going to find jobs for, yes, of course they are, despite the unemployed having to compete with ‘Artificial Intelligence’ (AI), with its technology and ability to learn independent of its creators, which is gradually replacing the overall need for a workforce containing a ‘human element.
The many people who ‘will work but can’t find work,’ also come from families who have been in the United Kingdom for generations; they have grown up witnessing their parents and grandparents having had their industrial skills made redundant, their work ethics and community spirit diminished through a loss of hope for themselves and for the future of their children in a declining Britain, so generally speaking, they have had the shit kicked out of them.
This is the first Labour Government for over a decade, so will it leave people feeling the after effects of another Labour ‘let down,’ and if so, will The Chancellor of the Exchequer’s Budget become a metaphor for
those who feel let down, in the same way people felt let down during New Labour’s tenure way back when.
I can’t remember where I heard it, but the other day I overheard a conversation where someone suggested opening up the mines in the UK to help make the UK energy independent, and that it would help solve the unemployment situation, however, it was the reply to that suggestion which has remained with me.
The person responding said, “And who is going to work in them?” I knew immediately what they meant, because the mining industry employed people who were mainly men, and manly men at that, men who were tough and were brought up in communities where hard work was the norm and integrated into everyday life.
If you are a working-class person and have worked your way up the pay scale ladder through hard bloody graft, and have saved your hard earned and carefully invested what little you have over the years, lots of years in fact, doing the right thing so’s not having to rely on the state to keep you when you retire, then your government needs you!
Whilst you, the little person is crying in your beer at the thought of an imminent financial takedown, the government slingshot’s this little announcement in your direction, because in their minds, ‘I-think, that they-think, that you-think, it will somehow make you feel better and here it is:
‘Ministers are expected to announce increases in inheritance tax and capital gains tax (CGT) in the budget next week.’
A ‘mantra’ all governments seem to have in common around election and budget time, the reason being they do not want the working class thinking it is only them being given a hard time when it comes to the budget, nope, because they want to give the impression that the wealthy suffer a broadside to their finances, too, or that is what they would have us believe.
You see, traditionally, albeit a misconception, the inheritance and capital gains taxes had a certain air about them, in that they only applied to ‘really rich’ people, but with property values being what they are, and that house your parents are living in, which they bought for 50K 30 years ago, well, that house is now worth hundreds of thousands and then some.
The government must be salivating at the thought of all this ‘equity’ being up for grabs by them and they will want a slice of that equity, because why should you, the heir to your parents fortune, get your grubby mitts around it.
The Government wants a nice slice of that cake your parents have baked and will leave for you when the time comes, and Government has a big appetite when it comes to the slice of what will be your cake and if they could, they would leave you with only a slither and the crumbs.
Now, with the PM’s ambiguous comments stuck in the ‘political ether’ of ‘what does that mean,’ until they become clear when the Budget is read out in parliament, a Labour spokesperson thought it best not to panic their voting base by stating the following in the same Guardian article:
Ahead of the anticipated tax rises, the government has come under pressure to clarify its manifesto promise to “not increase taxes on working people.”
The following is an exert from what was promised and pledged during Labour’s election campaign and although the term ‘working person’ does get a mention, it is not made clear how the term ‘working person’ is defined.
Looking at paragraph 3 above it appears that, the working classes are going to be given a bit of security knowing that their hard earned sovereigns are safe under a Labour Government, however, as is with all things the devil will be in the detail and without knowing this, you might want to place the cork back in the champagne bottle until the term ‘working people’ has been defined; it is beginning to sound like an ‘October Surprise.’
Hey, perhaps that was what all the fuss was about, you know, the fuss surrounding the following headline published earlier this month in October 2024:
It’s the USA Presidential Election next month in November 2024. As part of the USA Election their MSM will claim that the Democrats and or Republican Parties will have a surprise for each other around October time, which basically means one side will dish the dirt on the other, and with some of the American MSM Networks being more akin to a
Propaganda Channel for the Democrats, whatever juicy dirt Republicans serve up, it will be sliced and diced by the Democratic supporting MSM.
Looks to me like Labour was fishing for ideas and wanted to know what October Surprise the Republicans had lined up and if they liked it, why not copy their idea
It is comments like the one below also contained within the Guardian article that, cause a ‘run’ on the baby aisles in shops clearing the shelves of Huggees and Pampers, so that when the Budget announcements are made any negligent discharges or evacuations resulting from shock remain safely and securely in situ; if you have not bought or ordered your nappies already, then it is probably too late and the shops will be sold out of these:
Asked whether someone who works but also has an income from assets, such as shares and property, was a working person, Starmer told Sky News: “Well, they wouldn’t come within my definition.”
The prime minister’s spokesperson later clarified that he was referring to people who “primarily get their income from assets” and was “not precluding people that have a small amount of savings” in stocks and shares.
Yeah, not precluding and not ruling out either, as if it is still all up in the air, along with his earlier comments hovering ominously in the political ether and with that in mind, I’m get ing that feeling of foreboding and those words again come to me, “You will own nothing and be happy.”
This has me thinking that there is a hint that landlords might be on the Agenda, big-time. Poor landlords, they were well and truly shafted by the previous Conservative Government who certainly contributed to the ‘Teflonisation’ (new RB word) of the Tenant who refuses to or just stops paying their rent to a Landlord.
There are many Landlords who operate on a corporate level and without doubt in my mind their impressive property portfolios, which have for some time now, been looked upon with envious eyes of the State, who have slowly, but surely, drawn their plans together whispering, ‘we’re going to have a bit of that,’ although my source is telling me that it has nothing to do with them running out of hotel spaces,
Most of the Landlords I know are working class people, who worked day, evening and night renovating one or two properties that they have gone out on a limb to buy, so that they can yield a return from their investment through the rental market; this group of people are hardly what might be considered as being part of the corporate band.
Despite the fact that those in Government might now view people who own one, two or even three houses as no longer being a ‘working person’ for tax purposes, it does not change the fact that they are still the Little People who have worked hard, however, I predict that there is change afoot and at the end of Budget Day, you will not see a smile on the Landlords faces, but you might see some track-marks.
There is only one question people are really asking and want an answer to and that is: Cut to the chaste, let us know the bottom line, ‘how much is this Labour Government going to shaft us little people.?’
And for the answer to that you and I will have to wait and see.
