vile statue outside bbc hq by eric gill – what you really should know!

Whenever we say the ‘BBC,’ our staff at our Red Brick offices are said to mutter under their breath, ‘Jimmy Saville.’ Isn’t that a sad indictment of what should be a national embodiment of a public sponsored broadcaster?
Sadly, hard as it was for us to believe, the very same BBC has on display and in plain sight, a sculpted statue of naked boy resting against an adult male’s naked leg, with the child’s head leaning back towards the adult’s crotch, so are we really surprised that such thoughts of jimmy Saville come to mind when we hear the dear old auntie mentioned?

The sculpture we are referring to is by Eric Gill, a self-confessed paedophile according to his diaries, and it is positioned above a public entrance door at the BBC; and we think this tells us all we need to know, and that we should all ‘bin’ our TV Licences.

So, who was Eric Gill and how do we know about him? Arthur Eric Rowton Gill, was born February 1892 and died in November 1940 (Wikipedia). He was a highly acclaimed talented sculptor and the Tate Gallery to this day contains some of his work. However, and it is a ’big however,’ because following his death, his personal diaries revealed the ‘darker’ side to his character.

In 1989 Fiona MacCarthy produced her earth-shattering biography of Gill. Her book examined the artist’s diaries and revealed that Gill had seduced domestic servants, his friends and often their partners, both men and women. It described incest with his sister Gladys and even sexual experiments with his dog.

The diabolical and the evil perversions of this man did not stop there, because he also described in his diaries how he frequently raped his young teenage daughters, Petra and Betty.

Why would an organisation such as the BBC, an organisation that has been so trusted by generations of parents, who have allowed their children to sit in front of the television watching BBC’s children’s programmes, with the minimum of supervision, so mommy can get on with her chores before daddy brings home the bacon, allow one of its buildings to be adorned with artwork sculpted by a child rapist?

We think we know that answer, but we will set that aside for this article, other than to say that this man’s image is ‘Evil in Plain Sight,’ and we wonder if it is linked with Jimmy Saville’s behaviour in some way?

It is almost as if the sculpture is someone’s idea of a sick joke, a joke which would be lost on us at Red Brick should we give it more than a fleeting thought. Why on earth would anyone want Eric Gill’s ‘work’ to be positioned above the main entrance to BBC Broadcasting House?

Well, the good news is, and it is good news, there is currently an online petition to remove the ‘Statue sculpted by Paedophile,’ Eric Gill. The petition was created by Trevor Stanski. At Red Brick we give Trevor ‘Big Red Brick Respect.’

The BBC are being petitioned to remove the sculpture depicting a naked child, created by known paedophile, Eric Gill, above.
The BBC, for some reason, thinks it is alright, as public servants, to display ‘a naked boy submissively leaning into the raised leg of an adult male?’ This is so wrong and on every level.
Trevor Stanski, believes that the BBC would regain some credibility with their reputation, if they were seen to act upon the image of a naked child created by a known paedophile. It will show that they do not approve of the crimes committed by their past stars, Savile, King, Hall and Harris and show that they do not condone anybody who carries out child abuse.
All of the above has been inspired by Trevor Stanski and his excellent work above. You can sign his online petition by pasting this link into your browser https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/remove-bbc-statue-by-paedophile-eric-gill

PS. Nice one Trevor!
